You know him. You know her. You know how cancer has bullied its way into the lives of those you care about most—a family member, friend, coworker, neighbor, teacher, coach. As the leading cause of death across our planet, cancer annually claims 8.2 million lives. Mothers. Fathers. Children. Grandparents.

Maybe you recently lost someone to cancer. Or it’s been years since that last good-bye. Ugh. I’m sorry.

This Saturday, February 4, is World Cancer Day. To see how you can join in the efforts to prevent and fight cancer, go to worldcancerday.org. Together, we CAN lessen the burden of cancer in our communities and countries.

Maybe you can give a donation or sit with someone through a chemo treatment. Or go wig shopping with your loved one or watch a comedy movie or TV show together.

Whatever you do, just keep loving your cancer soldier, your cancer survivor. One laugh, one tear, one hug, one prayer at a time.
